Cat snuggles in bed. Perfect afternoon activity. |
My name is Melissa and my life has not turned out the way that I thought it would. I would not change a thing about my journey, even the hard parts.
I've loved writing since I learned how and have dreamed of publishing a book (I believe my specific goal required that it be at least 100 pages long) but I struggle to finish anything so I tend to journal. Blogging has been a new and exciting way for me to write and share my thoughts and ideas with others.
I went to college with the plan of becoming a teacher. Turns out my classroom is in my basement and my students are all related to me.
I always imagined I'd get married some day, but I didn't know that I would find him in high school and that we'd get married at age 21. Or that he would completely and totally get me, quirks and all.
I always assumed I'd have kids but I didn't realize I would have two daughters before my 25th birthday. Ok, so it was the day before my 25th birthday, but still. I never imagined what beautiful, silly, smart little people they would be, or that I would rather at home teaching them than making money somewhere else.
I was raised Catholic, attended Catholic schools from preschool all the way through high school, but now attend and am actively involved in a Methodist church that I walk to and love dearly. I never thought that I would attend church studies and read the Bible regularly, but I do.
Yeah, life has a funny way of not turning out the way you'd expect it to. Surprising, scary, funny, weird; I feel blessed by it all. I write to process the journey.
